Did you know that October is Gratitude month?  We would like to say a sincere Thank you to all of our families and students for making Sandhills School such an amazing place to be!

    INDIGO FUNDRAISER

We are delighted to share our next Fundraiser with you. Wed, November 13th at the INDIGO location on Fairway Road, Kitchener (6:30 pm to 8:30pm). Sandhills School Council encourages you to partake in some early holiday shopping and help raise money for school initiatives. 20% of all purchases will go towards the school if you tell your check out assistant that you have a student at Sandhills Public School.  As an extra treat for our Sandhills Community, our JUNIOR CHOIR will be performing. Come and cheer on our wonderful Junior Choir and show your support. We will see you there!!

 UMBRELLA PROJECT

This month at Sandhills we have been working on our EMPATHY skills.  We are trying hard to demonstrate “I know how others feel,” and “I care how others feel.”

For those of you who are new to Sandhills this year, each month we focus on a particular character trait to help our students develop their toolkit so they can successfully navigate all of life’s challenges.  The focus of this program is our long-standing Sandhills Guide, which has now been integrated with traits from the Umbrella Project.  Please check out the links below for a video about the idea behind the Umbrella Project and a link to the website for the program.

Stay tuned for updates in the scoop about our focus trait and ideas for connecting the ideas your child is learning at school to their home and community.

SPIRIT WEAR SALES OPEN ON TUESDAY!  DON’T MISS OUT!

Ordering will GO LIVE ON TUESDAY Oct 15th !!

DEADLINE FOR SPIRIT WEAR IS 31st October 2019

Sandhills is proud to announce that students, parents/caregivers/families and staff will have the opportunity to purchase Sandhills’ branded spirit wear.

We have taken considerable time to ensure that our spirit wear is of good quality and perfect for the whole family. Items for purchase will include hoodies, baseball shirts, t-shirts, sports pants, golf shirts, toques, baseball caps and sweatpants to name but a few. As if that wasn’t enough, we are also including the opportunity to have your child’s first or last name placed on the back (bottom) of your spirit wear t-shirt or pullover/hoodie. Follow the instructions in the attached link. This is optional and will incur a small charge of $5.00.

Ordering is easy with a direct link to our supplier. The deadline for Spirit Wear is Thursday, 31st Oct 2019.

SANDHILLS SUNS Club Store

In addition, we are proud to announce that our fantastic Grade 6 graduates will have the chance to purchase a T-shirt and/or Hoodie with ‘Class of 2020’ on the front and a design of signatures from their graduating year on the back. This is a unique and practical way to remember their years at Sandhills; one which, we are sure, will be popular. Again, the deadline for Grade 6 Graduation Spirit Wear is Thursday, 31st Oct 2019.

You will find the Grade 6 Graduation Spirit wear using the same link as above. Please ensure you select the Graduation T-shirt/Hoodie item correctly.

Samples (if you require to view sizes) will be available in the main office to try on!

Flyers will be available at the office as well but we would prefer all orders to be placed online with the links provided above.

HALLOWE’EN

Hallowe’en is fast approaching and your staff at Sandhills thought it might be a good time to remind families about the expectations regarding costumes. As always, students’ costumes should not be of the ‘violent’ type nor should they include weapons of any type. Face masks are also not to be worn inside the school. Thank you in advance for your cooperation.
