 Principal’s Welcome:

Welcome Parents and Caregivers to a new school year. For those of you returning to Sandhills, we are so pleased to have you back and for our new families just joining us for the first time, welcome to one of the best communities in the WRDSB!

At Sandhills our goal is to reach each and every student and help them to achieve their own personal success. We all come from different backgrounds, ethnicities, cultures and different lived experiences however we are all part of one community. The staff work hard and do more than just teach your student. They see each and every student as a whole child and work to support and educate in all facets to support their wellbeing.

If you have not already connected personally with your student’s educators, I strongly encourage you to do so as your student’s wellbeing and education is a partnership and your voice matters.

As the year progresses, I look forward to seeing your student(s) flourish and grow as well as having an opportunity to meet you as well. At this time I would also like to remind all parents and caregivers that we would love for you to join our amazing School Council. It is a small time commitment and if you are not able to attend all the monthly meetings you can just attend the ones that meet your schedule. Our council members are often volunteers and can assist in multiple ways.

PARKING & SCHOOL PROPERTY…

We are a WALKING SCHOOL. This means there is to be no vehicle traffic on school property at the beginning and end of each school day. We appreciate your understanding and cooperation in this as it ensures the safety of our students. If you need more information on where the various walking paths are, and/or the designated areas for parking on neighbouring side streets, connect with other Sandhills families or stop by the office. We kindly ask that when parking on side streets you are mindful of where you are parking and that you do not block driveways. Adhering to this fosters positive relationships with members of our community.

 

END OF DAY ROUTINE

We have a number of classes that end their day with outdoor learning time on the tarmac in the back of the school. We kindly ask that you stay clear of the tarmac area until the bell has gone at 2:55pm. Seeing parents back there before the end of the day may be a distraction for the students.

We also ask that you not bring dogs onto school property as we find that some students are afraid and we would like our students to feel safe at school.  We appreciate your assistance with this.

 

JOB OPPORTUNITY

Parking lot attendant needed for both before and after school. This is a paid position, and available to a community member who would like to have a positive impact on student safety. Training will be provided and there will be additional support from School Council members. Please contact Mrs. Murovec in the office for more details. Thank you!
