Did you know?

The WRDSB community believes in Safe Caring Inclusive Schools (SCIS).

We recognize that providing students with an opportunity to learn and develop in a safe, caring and respectful society is a shared responsibility in which the Board and schools play an important role. Schools that have a variety of prevention and intervention strategies foster a positive learning and teaching environment that supports academic achievement for all students and helps students reach their full potential. A positive school climate is a crucial component of prevention. Not having appropriate prevention and intervention strategies adversely affects a school’s ability to educate its students, students’ ability to learn, as well as healthy relationships and the school climate.

“Building a safe, caring and inclusive school culture means teaching it minute by minute, day by day, integrating it into discipline practices and curriculum, using instructional models that provide practice in social and relationship skills and, most importantly, modelling it.” – Vicki Mather

Here at Sandhills, we value input from teachers and parents on our SCIS committee. If you’re looking for an opportunity to contribute to an important team next year, please consider joining the fun with the SCIS team. There are 4 formal meetings, and minimal input needed between meetings. We look forward to hearing from you. Together we can make a difference!

Spirit Wear is LIVE and now available Online

Sandhills is proud to announce that students, parents/caregivers/families and staff will have the opportunity to purchase Sandhills’ branded spirit wear.

We have taken considerable time to ensure that our spirit wear is good quality and perfect for the whole family. Items for purchase will include hoodies, baseball shirts, t-shirts, sports pants, golf shirts, toques, baseball caps and sweatpants to name but a few. As if that wasn’t enough, we are also including the opportunity to have your child’s first or last name placed on the back (bottom) of your spirit wear t-shirt or pullover/hoodie. This is optional and will incur a small charge of $8.

Ordering is easy with a direct link to our supplier. The deadline for Spirit Wear is Friday, 24th May 2019.

In addition, we are proud to announce that our fantastic Grade 6 graduates will have the chance to purchase a T-shirt and/or Hoodie with ‘Class of 2019’ on the front and a design of signatures from their graduating year on the back. This is a unique and practical way to remember their years at Sandhills; one which, we are sure, will be popular. Again, the deadline for Grade 6 Graduation Spirit Wear is Friday, 24th May 2019.

You will find the Grade 6 Graduation Spirit wear using the same link as above. Please ensure you select the Graduation T-shirt/Hoodie item correctly.

Samples (if you require to view sizes) will be available in the main office to try on!

Flyers will be available as well but we would prefer all orders to be placed online with the links provided above.

Umbrella Project

INTRINSIC MOTIVATION continues here at Sandhills.

“A life lived without enthusiasm is a life half lived.”

Have you asked your student how they incorporate Intrinsic Motivation into their daily school life and what it means to them?

  • I do things to better myself.
  • I do things for me.
  • I do things to learn, not for a reward.
