- Toasty Toes
Thank you so much for your generosity Sandhills!
The Toasty Toes campaign to collect as many pairs of new socks as possible for people who need them in Waterloo Region was a HUGE success.
We collected 2050 pairs of socks! More than 5 times our original goal. Thank you! Thank you!
- Staffing Update
We wish a sunny Sandhills welcome to Mr. Stephen Sabourin, he will be teaching grade four while Mr. Wilkinson embarks on a parental leave for the remainder of the school year.
- Loyalty Funding Fundraiser
School Council has chosen Loyalty Funding gift cards as a fundraiser for Sandhills this year. On the evening of November 16 and afternoon of November 17, Council members will have a display in the school foyer to demonstrate how you can buy gift cards and support Sandhills at the same time. Please stop by and see how your regular shopping can support student needs at Sandhills.
- Parenting Resource
KW Counselling is proud to introduce a new parenting resource parentingnow.ca. The program consists of two streams, one being group discussions in various communities in Waterloo Region and the other is the online chat system. The chat program has 10 Experienced Parents who were selected based on their varied and vast experience in parenting. Chat can be completely anonymous and parents are free to chat about literally any parenting question pertaining to any age. There are parents who can chat in different languages and parents who have experience in everything from divorce, ADHD, education challenges, drug use, LGBTQ, allergies, being newcomers to Canada, and more. It is an easy and free service that can really assist parents get through some challenging times. Visit www.parentingnow.ca to learn more.
- Lunch Box Orders
We are happy to share that Lunchbox Orders will be offered again at Sandhills Public School this school year. Not familiar with Lunchbox Orders? Lunchbox Orders is a convenient, online ordering platform featuring local restaurants. An ordering calendar has been coordinated for the Sandhills community at www.lunchboxorders.com.
All orders are submitted on the website and payment is processed on-line by Visa, MasterCard, Discover or Visa Debit. Visa and MasterCard prepaid cards are also accepted as a payment method.
The lunch calendar is NOW open and features the following options:
Every Friday on a rotating schedule – Subway, Pita Pit, East Side Mario’s and Swiss Chalet.
How to Order:
- Go online at www.lunchboxorders.com and click “ORDER LUNCH”.
- New to Lunchbox Orders? Click “Create an Account” to register your family’s account.
- Already registered? Please login directly with your current user name (e-mail address) and password.
- Add your child to your account by clicking “add a student” and register your child with their new teacher and grade.
- Click “Order Now” (beside your child’s name) to access the school’s ordering calendar.
- Proceed with ordering your child’s lunch by clicking on the blue box for each restaurant featured.
The Benefits:
- With every meal purchased, a contribution will be made to the school’s fundraising program.
- Lunchbox Orders is paperless and cashless. Ordering online is fast and easy!
- All menu items featured are compliant with the Ontario Ministry of Education’s Food and Beverage Policy.
- Orders may be placed weekly or in advance, for the full length of the program.
Dates to Remember:
▪ Lunch delivery is scheduled to begin Friday, November 10, 2017.
▪ Sunday, November 12 at NOON (12pm) is the ordering deadline for the second scheduled delivery.
▪ All orders, updates and cancellations must be submitted by Sunday at noon for the following week.
▪ Please note, new orders will not be accepted after the Sunday deadline.

- Parent-Teacher Interviews
The afternoon of Friday, November 17th is a reserved time for teachers to meet with parents and guardians concerning their child’s school progress. Some teachers will be using School-Day to schedule appointments. Your child’s teacher will communicate with you if they are using different process to book appointments.
Booking Interviews on School-Day
If you have more than one student, select their name from the Students drop-down menu to view the booking options for each student. To book an appointment, click on the time slot you would like. The spot will be held for 30 seconds. If you don’t confirm within 30 seconds, the appointment may be booked by another user. Once you click Book Now the appointment time is confirmed. To cancel an appointment, click the booked appointment space again. You will not be able to book an appointment in blocked time slots, or spots that have already been booked by other users. Selecting My Appointments will show you your complete interview schedule, and you can use the icons at the bottoms of the schedule to save or print.
- EQAO Results
Individual student results from 2016/2017 grade three EQAO testing will come home with your child’s progress report on November 13th.
- Extended Day Program during Winter Break
W.R.D.S.B. winter break December 25th, 2017 – January 5th, 2018. The extended day program will NOT run December 25th – January 1st. The program WILL run January 2nd, 3rd, 4th and 5th. Families not using the Extended Day Program during Winter Break should indicate their schedule change by logging onto your One List account at wrdsb.on.ca/beforeafter by or before December 19th, 2017.
