June 24th, 2016 – Weekly School-Day Update

 

1.Upcoming Dates

June 28 – Grade Six Graduation (ceremony at 1:30pm / doors open at 1:15pm)

June 27 – Report cards go home

June 29 – Last Day of School

June 30 – PA Day, Extended day operating for registered students

July 1 – HAPPY CANADA DAY!

July 5 – Office closes until August 29th, 2016

 

  1. Information for 2016/2017

Classes begin again on September 6th, 2016.  Junior and Senior Kindergarten students will receive a letter over the summer with information about your class placement and the staggered entry schedule.  Students who will be in grade 1 – 6 will find their class placements posted on the library windows after 4:00pm on Friday, September 2nd, 2016.  On the first day back to class, the teachers will meet their classes outside on the tarmac at the back of the school.

 

  1. Are you moving?

We are busy preparing for next year.  If you are moving and your child will no longer attend Sandhills, please send a note to the school office to let us know the final date of expected attendance at Sandhills and the name of the school you will be transferring to.  You will need to register at the school you will be attending.  Registration forms may be picked up in the office.

 

  1. Volunteers Needed

Many hands make light work.  The Sandhills School Council is looking for volunteers to help water trees this summer.  Please contact Della Sousa at della_sousa@wrdsb.on.ca with the week you would be interested in volunteering for.  Helpers are needed each week beginning July 4th.  All necessary equipment and instructions will be provided.

 

  1. Student Transportation for 2016-2017

Bussing is available for some kindergarten students who live outside the designated walking area.  Transportation details for 2016-2017 will be available Monday August 22, 2016.  Parents can login to view their child’s transportation information at www.stswr.ca.

Please note: any address changes need to be done through your school.  If you are moving this summer or change caregiver arrangements for the fall, you should communicate the change of address to your school office before the end of the 2015-2016 school year.
