Hello Sandhills Suns!

We are excited to inform you that we will be celebrating our Grade 6 students on Thursday, June 24th, beginning at 11:15am, as they prepare to transition to grade 7 in September. As previously communicated, this celebration will be virtual. This celebration will include both our in-person and distance learning students. We will be sharing specific details with families as we get closer to June 24th. We do know at this time that a recording of the celebration will be made available to those who are not able to attend the live celebration.

This will be an opportunity to celebrate the dedication and commitment of our grade 6s within their school community. We will be recognizing every student’s accomplishment and reinforcing the value of community and all learning. Schools across the WRDSB are planning celebrations with a consistent and equitable approach.

As we continue to work towards creating equity of opportunity for our students, we also acknowledge the extent the COVID-19 pandemic has had on the learning environments in our schools. As we adhere to strict Public Health guidelines and provide these celebrations in a safe and equitable manner, virtual celebrations across the WRDSB will refrain from drive-bys, door drop-offs, awards and gifts.
