PRINCIPAL’S WELCOME
I would like to begin by welcoming you and your child(ren) back to Sandhills P.S. either in-person as a distance learner. I would like to extend an extra warm welcome to those families who have joined our school community this year for the first time!
This continues to be a unique and ever-changing time for our education system and greater society. We want to assure you that as we begin this new school year with some continued uncertainties, it is our priority to provide a quality education and experience for your child while making sure they are as safe and healthy as possible. Our approach will be informed by care and compassion, in a manner that will comply with all COVID-19 health and safety requirements. ‘Safe, happy learners’ will be our priority as we continue to focus on the conditions for learning.
I look forward to seeing your students flourish and grow and anticipate a fantastic year filled with learning, friendship and fun for everyone!

SAFE, CARING & INCLUSIVE SCHOOL TEAM
It is that time again to start to think about our Safe, Caring and Inclusive School team. We are looking to recruit some new members and hopefully retain some of our previous members.
This committee meets only four times a year and assists in developing, establishing and creating a more equitable school climate and community. If you are interested in joining this committee, please send me a personal email.
Thanks in advance for considering this opportunity to make a difference.
STUDENT INFORMATION FORMS
Just a friendly reminder to please return your Student Data Verification and Off Campus Walking forms to the office by Wednesday September 30. New for this year – the Concussion Code of Conduct, Release of Student Information and Responsible Use Procedure Forms are all available on School-Day and can be signed electronically this year.
TERRY FOX RUN
This year marks the 40th anniversary of Terry Fox’s Marathon of Hope. Schools will celebrate by taking part in classroom/individual activities using the 40th anniversary theme of What’s Your 40?
Terry showed us all that anything is possible if you try. He reminded us all that we can make a difference in the world and change people’s lives for the better.
This year due to health and safety protocols we will not be collecting money at the school. Instead, we would invite you to donate directly to the Terry Fox Fund at: http://www.terryfox.ca/SandhillsPSKitchener
LIBRARY BOOKS
Just a friendly reminder – if you still have library books at home from before the school closure, please return them back to school at your earliest convenience. Thank you.
INCLEMENT WEATHER
NEW THIS YEAR – As part of our new COVID-19 protocols, students and families are encouraged to dress appropriately for the weather (for temperature and precipitation) as students will be spending a portion of their day outside. There will be no Rain Bell to allow early entry into the school unless we are experiencing extreme thunderstorms and lightning. Please check the weather before leaving the house. Just a reminder that our parking lot is always CLOSED at the start and end of every school day, including inclement weather days. Please do not arrive prior to 8:25am on inclement weather days so that we can continue to adhere to our new social distancing protocols. Your assistance with this is greatly appreciated.
