Thanks for everyone’s support of our journey to becoming an Eco School!
We are so proud of the feedback we received below, and look forward to ongoing opportunities to “Nurture Nature” at the Hills!
What a pleasure it was to meet such an enthusiastic EcoTeam at Sandhills School! Thank-you for showing us first hand how much you care about the environment. It is great to see so many opportunities for your students to take on leadership roles within the school through bulletin boards, announcements, and assemblies. It’s clear you have started creating a strong culture of Energy Conservation and Waste Minimization at your school. Two waste audits–impressive! Good communication will continue to inform students of successes achieved and areas for improvement, leading to further deepening of environmental practices at your school. Great work developing your School Ground Greening projects. How lucky we were to arrive as your sensory garden was being prepared! It is wonderful that you are dedicated to creating rich habitat for native species and spaces for student learning! We were impressed with your knowledge of invasive species and your initiative to do something about them, too. Your Curriculum submissions are fantastic; they span different subjects and grades and provide environmental education in a creative, meaningful and engaging way for all students in your school. Your Environmental Stewardship campaigns, like “Ban the Bottle”, provided numerous opportunities for the whole school community to engage in environmental action and education. Congratulations on your achievements this year as an Ontario EcoSchool!
