Dear Parent(s)/Guardian(s)

The introduction of Canada’s new anti-spam legislation (CASL) created a number of challenges for us to be able to communicate with you electronically. The Board has been working diligently to solve these challenges, and we are pleased to inform you that we now have a solution in place.

There are a number of ways you can communicate with us:

Add your email address to our Student Information System: you can now add your email address to your child’s contact record within our Student Information System using our secure form. You can access the form at secure.wrdsb.ca/subscribe, or via your child’s school website. You will need your child’s Ontario Education Number (OEN) to register your email; you can find the OEN number on your child’s report card.

Subscribe to websites for news: On all of our websites, you can fill in the Get News from this Website form to get notifications when news is posted to the website. Sign up is available in the footer of all of our websites. Suggested sites to follow: the Sandhills website and the Board website at wrdsb.ca

Follow our social media channels: Sandhills uses various social media channels to communicate with parents and the school community. We are currently using Twitter & Instagram as social media communication tools (Twitter:  @shlwrdsb and Instagram:  @sandhillsps).  The Board also has a Twitter account that is used to communicate, follow them @wrdsb.

Sandhills also uses other tools such as School Day  or your child’s teacher may also use other programs to communicate with you. These tools are already CASL compliant, and can continue to be used to receive information. We recommend that you still add your email address to our Student Information System, even if Sandhills uses one of these tools. Having CASL compliant emails in several places provides the school and its staff with more choice in how to communicate with you.
