Please return the white report card envelope back to your classroom teacher at your earliest convenience.  These envelopes are reused throughout the year for the remainder of your child’s progress reports.  Thanks in advance for your help!

MASK GUIDELINES AND INFORMATION

As we enter into a new season, we wanted to send a few reminders and some helpful hints and tips for wearing masks at school.

Non-medical face masks or face coverings should:

  • allow for easy breathing
  • fit securely to the head with ties or ear loops
  • maintain their shape after washing and drying
  • be changed as soon as possible if damp or dirty
  • be comfortable and not require frequent adjustment
  • be made of at least 2 layers of tightly woven material fabric (such as cotton or linen)
  • be large enough to completely and comfortably cover the nose and mouth without gaping
  • clean masks can be stored in a clean dry location and changed whenever necessary
  • a labelled paper bag or breathable fabric bag are a good place to store clean masks when they are not in use

Colder weather means that masks are getting moist when we go in and out of the building.  We would recommend that each student bring 1-2 extra masks every day to allow for more frequent changing.

Please note that masks with vents and plastic face masks are NOT permitted in lieu of a fabric face mask.  Some commercially available masks have exhalation valves that make the mask more breathable for the person wearing it, but these valves also allow infectious respiratory droplets to spread outside the mask.

Masks with exhalation valves are not recommended, because they don’t protect others from COVID-19 and don’t limit the spread of the virus.

2020 HOLIDAY SEASON

As the month of December approaches, the WRDSB will continue to focus on the health and safety of our communities.  We recognize that this year they will be different and that traditions in our homes and schools might not occur in the same ways as they have in the past.  Classes will take some time to discuss which celebrations are near and dear to their hearts and homes.

We look forward to fostering conversations on how to show kindness and gratitude this holiday season.  We know that some families traditionally like to express their gratitude for our school staff through gift giving however at this time we would like to encourage other ways to express your thankfulness.

SEVERE WEATHER DAYS

During severe weather conditions, we may need to cancel buses or close schools for the safety of our students and staff. In past years, the cancellation of buses has not automatically resulted in school closures, however, this year that is changing with the launch of Weather Impacted Distance Learning Days. On days when buses are cancelled as a result of severe weather schools will also be closed to students. Before and After School programs will also be closed on Weather Impacted Distance Learning Days
