  1. A Note From Mrs. Murovec

A special thank you to all who attended our Open House on Thursday. It was great to connect with so many parents and families.  It is always a pleasure to develop relationships between home and school.  At anytime, if you have questions about your child’s education, cognitive or social development don’t hesitate to contact the school.  At Sandhills, the teachers, support staff and administration all work together as a team to ensure your student’s success.

  1. Parking Lot Attendant Needed

We are looking to hire a parking lot attendant for a 30 minute shift in the morning and in the afternoon.  This is a paid position.  The morning shift would be from 8:15 am until 8:45 am.  The afternoon shift would be from 2:45 pm until 3:15 pm.  If you are interested in applying for this job, please email nancy_murovec@wrdsb.ca

  1. Walking School Bus News

Thanks to the efforts of our dedicated group of volunteers, we have begun our Sandhills Walking School Bus! The “Bus” currently has two routes and departs both locations at 8:15am.

If you are interested in leading an existing route or expanding our current network of routes, please contact the office.

If you’d like your child to participate on the WSB, there is a student registration form you can pick up at the office complete with a map of our current routes.

The more participation, involvement, and support throughout the community the stronger this exciting and important initiative will grow!

  1. New Fundraising Initiative

This year Sandhills School Council is excited to share a new fundraising initiative through LoyaltyFunding, an organization that sells gift cards from a variety of grocery stores, coffee shops, pharmacies, and gas stations, etc – retailers you probably already regularly use, with a portion of the proceeds going directly to Sandhills with no additional cost to you. You can do one time gift card purchases, or monthly subscriptions with no monthly order minimums.

You can learn more and order through their website https://www.loyaltyfunding.ca/sandhills There is also an app available wherever you get your apps by searching “LoyaltyFunding.” If you are using your mobile device you can get your gift cards digitally, so you don’t have to worry about misplacing your gift card – you simply scan through your mobile device.

  1. Pizza Day Orders – Coming Soon!

Our first block of pizza days will run from Wednesday, October 4th until Wednesday, December 20th.

Orders are placed through School-Day.  Watch for School-Day announcements next week when the ordering period begins.  If you need help to sign up for School-Day, please stop in or call the office.

  1. Student Data Updates

Thank you to everyone who has already returned their forms.  If you haven’t yet, please review and kindly return the Data Verification Form (white sheet), The Permission of Student Personal Information Form (blue sheet), The Consent for Ongoing Off-Campus Activities Form (white sheet) and any important medical information by Wednesday, September 13th, 2016.

  1. Attendance Line Changes

Please be reminded to call the attendance line if your child will be late or absent from school due to appointments or illness.  Due to some upgrades to the W.R.D.S.B. phone system, you can now reach the attendance line in two ways.  Call 519-570-8125 and leave a message, this is the same number but the extension is no longer necessary.  Call the school’s main number 519-744-4430 and select option 1 to reach the attendance voicemail box.

Please do not leave attendance messages on the teacher’s voicemail.
