January 9 & 10 – Vision Screening for Kindergarten Students

January 16 & 17 – Dental Screening for Kindergarten, grade 2,4 & 6 students.

January 20 – Kodaly Choir performing O’ Canada at the Rangers Game

January 27 – P.A. Day, no school for students.

 

  1. Staffing Update

Thank you to Ms. Maedith Radlein who has been at Sandhills as Interim Vice-Principal since December 12th.  We are pleased to announce the appointment of Mr. Tom Ernst as Vice-Principal beginning January 9th, 2017.

 

  1. Attendance Line

Our attendance line is 519-570-8125 ext. 3041# it is available 24 hours for your convenience.  It is busiest between 7:45am and 8:30am.  Please remember to call if your child will be away from school.

 

  1. School Council Update

School Council is working on many exciting initiatives for the New Year.  Fundraising plans include MacMillan’s frozen food sales in early February and Big Box of Cards in April.  Plans are also underway for two family events; a family dance scheduled for late in February and an ESQ Science Night in April. Stay tuned for more news!  As always, School Council meetings are open to all, the next meeting is scheduled for January 11th at 6:30pm.

 

  1. 2016 French Immersion Information Sessions

Registration for Grade 1 French Immersion will begin on Monday, January 9, 2017 on the Waterloo Region District School Board website at www.wrdsb.ca/french. 

An information session for French Immersion has been rescheduled for Thursday, January 12, 2017 at 7pm at our Education Centre – 51 Ardelt Avenue, Kitchener. Parents/guardians of children in senior kindergarten are invited to attend the information session to learn more about French programs in the WRDSB and the registration process for Grade 1 French Immersion.
