  1. Volunteers In The School

Volunteers are a wonderful way to promote parent and community engagement.  Thanks to all of those families who volunteer in our school or on off campus events to support staff, students and the school as a whole.  Waterloo Region District School Board policy dictates that volunteers need to submit a Police Vulnerable Sector Check to the school when they are supervising students that are NOT in the proximity of a teacher (i.e. on a field trip where they have their own group and are walking around a museum, park, etc.), or as requested by the Principal depending on the volunteer role.  Please see the office for a letter to receive a reduced fee for obtaining the Police Vulnerable Sector Check.

  1. Bicycle Etiquette & Safety

If your child rides a bike to school, please spend a few moments as a family and review the information for Young Cyclists that is provided by the Ministry of Transportation. http://www.mto.gov.on.ca/english/safety/pdfs/young-cyclist-guide.pdf

Our grade two students will travel to Mountsberg Conservation Area on October 13th.  Students will visit the Raptor Center’s Owl Prowl Program.

  1. Student Accident Insurance

It is important for parents and guardians to be aware that the Waterloo Region District School Board does not provide accident insurance coverage for student injuries that occur on school premises or during school activities. Accidents can and do happen. Some injuries incur medical, dental or other expenses that are not covered by provincial health care or employer group plans. As a parent or guardian, you become responsible for these expenses.

W.R.D.S.B. have arranged an Accident and Life Insurance Programme for students. Participation in such a programme is voluntary and the costs are to be paid by the parent or guardian.
