  1. Spring Clean-Up Week

The Community Spring Clean-Up day that was scheduled for Saturday, May 14th has been cancelled. 

Instead, next week (May 9-13) we plan to continue the great work that our staff and students began with the Earth Week and Eco Schools activities. Mulch has been ordered, and teachers will be scheduling their classes to participate with their classes spreading mulch, weeding and picking up garbage.  Parents are welcome and encouraged to join in with their children’s classes when they are able.  We will be sharing updates via Twitter, School-Day and our school website.  Stay tuned for more information from your children’s classrooms.

 

  1. Jump Rope for Heart

Sandhills is once again joining forces with the Heart & Stroke Foundation of Kitchener to help our community. Through our fundraising efforts, in the past, we have helped the foundation to educate the public so that we can lead healthier lives.  Donations also help to further research and help patients in need. You can collect donations using our pledge envelopes or registering online at jumpropeforheart.ca  Our school outdoor Jump Rope event is scheduled for Friday May 20th.  We will skip outdoors during our middle block and have lots of fun while exercising. Your support is greatly appreciated as you help your children to collect donations by reaching out to family, colleagues, and friends.  As always, we do not encourage the kids to canvas door to door, especially without adult supervision. All donations should be submitted by Friday May 20th whether you are returning pledge envelopes or making sure that your online donations are completed.

  1. Boston Pizza Fundraiser Night

Mark your calendar!  Boston Pizza (Erbsville location) is partnering with Sandhills PS for a fundraising event.  On Wednesday May 11th from 5:00pm – 8:00pm, Boston Pizza will donate 10% of your sale to Sandhills PS.  Reservations are recommended.

 

  1. Looking for a tutor?

If you are looking to hire a tutor for your student, please consider contacting Lisa Hilverda at

519-572-8515. Ms. Hilverda is available after school and early evenings Mondays, Thursdays and Fridays.  She is especially interested in tutoring students in grades 1 – 9 who would like help with French or Math.

 

  1. Parent Night at Westheights PS

May 19th from 6-7pm is the Westheights PS Grade 6 parent information night.  All Gr. 6 students & parents are encouraged to attend.
