  1. Parents Reaching Out: An Evening of Hot Topics – April 12th 6:30 – 8:00 pm

Join us for a community engagement night where we will get together to engage with important issues that impact us all on a daily basis.  During this evening we will share our vision and plan for meaningful change to community school travel practices that will result in a safer school for all.  We will also have a feature presentation from Dr. Jen Forristal on building resiliency in children and other helpful parenting strategies.

We will provide light snacks and refreshments, but also encourage you to bring a reusable container if you’d like to make use of our water bottle filling station.  Infants and tots are welcome if accompanied by a guardian.  School aged children are welcome to attend a fun program brought to us by Stem Lab Robotics in the Library.    Please register for the evening at https://www.eventbrite.ca/e/the-umbrella-effect-building-resiliency-in-our-kids-tickets-44610786062 before April 10th.

  1. Are you moving?

Although the 2018-2019 school year seems far away, we have already been busy preparing.  At this time of year it is very important for us to have an accurate count of how many students will be attending Sandhills next year.  If you are planning on moving, please call or send a note to the office as soon as possible.

  1. Fundraising Campaign

School Council has teamed up with Dieleman Fundraising on a fundraising campaign that will run until April 11th.  Home and Kitchen, Gourmet and Outdoor Living products are available for purchase.  Please review the catalogues that have come home with your children this week.  Cool prizes are available for every level of sales achieved.  Thank you in advance for your support.

  1. Spring is the season of MUD!

The ground is beginning to thaw and we are excited to see warmer temperatures on the horizon.  Please help us keep our school shiny and clean.  Please remember as you put the winter boots away that outdoor and indoor shoes are still necessary.  On rainy days, students are encouraged to wear rain boots and splash pants to ensure that clothes stay clean and socks stay dry.  It is a great idea to tuck a change of clothes in your child’s backpack in case of a messy slip outside.

  1. Before and After School Program Information

Registration is now open for before and after school programs for the 2018-2019 school year.  Visit www.wrdsb.ca/beforeafter to register for the onsite extended day program for students in Junior Kindergarten to Grade Two, or the Youth Development Program run onsite by the YMCA/YWCA for students in Grades Three – Six.

Please note that on the April 13th, P.A. Day, the Extended Day Program for students in grades JK – 2 will NOT be operating.  Staff will be partaking in important professional training.  The Youth Development Program WILL be running for registered students in grades 3 – 6.
