  1. School Council Update

The Lamontagne chocolate fundraiser has wrapped up.  Thank you so much for your support of our school.  If you have not yet returned your money or unsold chocolate, please do so as soon as possible.  Be sure to mark your child’s name on the collection envelope.  We are looking forward to wrapping up this fundraiser and announcing our prize winners.

Save the date – School Council is hosting a Snowy Owl walk Saturday, March 3rd at 6:30 pm, in Monarch Woods.

  1. Student Safety

The volume of cars dropping students off near schools can cause difficulties for all students who need to move past these cars to get to school. This is a problem in many school communities. In the interest of student safety, our municipal Bylaw officers visit schools sporadically to enforce parking rules. Designated parking areas have been optimized for safe parking; any parking outside the designated areas can be considered to be creating additional hazards for our students. Please park safely and avoid being ticketed!

Did you know?

People who walk and ride their bikes to school are happier?  A study conducted by Green Communities Canada found that students (and the parents who accompanied them) enjoyed a deeper connection to their community, nature and other people.  This connection was found to decrease stress, and to increase happiness.

  1. Before and After School Program Information

Registration is now open for before and after school programs for the 2018-2019 school year.  Visit www.wrdsb.ca/beforeafter to register for the onsite extended day program for students in Junior Kindergarten to Grade Two, or the Youth Development Program run onsite by the YMCA/YWCA for students in Grades Three – Six.

Please note that on the April 13th, P.A. Day, the Extended Day Program for students in grades JK – 2 will NOT be operating.  Staff will be partaking in important professional training.  The Youth Development Program WILL be running for registered students in grades 3 – 6.
