Jan. 15 – Kindergarten registration opens for 2018-2019 school year

Jan. 25 – Career Day – dress like the job you want to have

Jan. 26 – P.A. Day – no school for students

Jan. 30 – Dental Screening

Feb. 7 – School Council Meeting 6:30pm, everyone welcome

Feb. 8 – Valentine’s Family Dance 6-8pm

Feb 9. – Sports Day / Jersey Day – show your spirit for your favourite team

Feb. 16 – Term 1 Report cards go home

Feb. 19 – Family day holiday – no school

 

  1. Save the Date – Valentine’s Family Dance

Mark your calendars for February 8th for our Valentine’s Family Dance.  The event will run from 6-8pm featuring music by Professor Jamz, with snacks and swag available for purchase.  Please note that students of all ages must be accompanied by an adult.  Stay tuned for more information.

 

  1. French Immersion Registration (for current SK families only)

Grade one French Immersion registration for interested families opened on January 10th.  Registration closes January 31st, 2018.  Register online at www.wrdsb.ca/french.  If you have questions or require more information about the French Immersion program or the registration process, please call 519-570-0003 ext. 4277.

 

  1. Kindergarten Registration Coming Soon!

Children born in 2014 or new-to-school children born in 2013 are eligible to attend kindergarten in September 2018.  Registration opens online on January 15th.  Visit www.shl.wrdsb.ca and click on the Register for Kindergarten button on the left side.  After the online registration is completed, call the office (519-744-4430) to book a brief appointment to finish the registration.  Students already enrolled in Kindergarten do not need to register again.

 

  1. OTIP Teaching Awards

These awards recognize the excellence of our teachers in publicly funded education.  There are three categories for the awards: elementary school teacher, secondary school teacher and beginning teacher in the first five years of teaching.  A teacher can be nominated by anyone – teachers, students, parents or the general public.  Further information is available at www.teachingawards.ca

 

  1. Walking School Bus Volunteers

Are you interested in helping our Walking School Bus grow?  Parents interested in learning more about becoming a volunteer walker are invited to participate in a WSB team meeting January 16th at 3:30. Contact Mr. Ernst for more information at tom_ernst@wrdsb.ca .

 

  1. Parking Lot Attendant Needed

We are looking to hire a parking lot attendant to cover two 30 minute shifts daily – morning and afternoon.  This is a paid position.  The morning shift would be from 8:15 am until 8:45 am.  The afternoon shift would be from 2:45 pm until 3:15 pm.  We will also consider applicants who are only interested in one of the two available shifts.   1. Tuck Shop Continues

Just a reminder, tuck shop continues to be run every Monday at second break.  Popcorn is available for $2, frozen yogurt is available for $4.
